On sale right now : The most important trunk (out of 15) from early 1900s Hollywood moviestar Mary Pickford. (1892-1979)
A 1926 secretary model covered in cowskin leather with her initials and the number ‘7’ on the top in black paint. It also has a travelling label with her name on it attached to the right hand side carrying handle.
This trunk comes with the confirmation of the LV headquarters stating this trunk with serial number 767030 actually belonged to her. Mrs Pickford and her husband travelled many times to europe carrying over 30 pieces of Louis Vuitton luggage during the 1920-1950s. They are both in the book 100 Legendary Trunks at page 262 and have their own star on the Hollywood walk of fame (as pictured).
Mary Pickford was married to Hollywood actor Douglas Fairbanks and founded together with Charlie Chaplin United Artists in 1919. (as pictured) This movie production company made many famous (silent) movies before it was bought by MGM Studios in the late 1960s.
