Unique, 1924 built Hermès leather wardrobe trunk.
This model is a special order from the Hermès brand, which was established in Paris in 1837 by Thierry Hermès.
Only the best materials were used for this travel trunk, the thickest brass, the best of wood and the finest leather.
Weighing over 50kgs this trunk is a massive and very impressive item. It comes with the full history of the first owner, french actress, singer Simone Berriau.
Provenance : When Maroccan pacha Thami El Glaoui (one of the richest men in the world, seen at last picture) fell in love with famous French actress and singer Simone Berriau, he ordered this full leather travel trunk at Hermès in the 1930s. It was his gift to her so she could travel back and forth Paris to Marrakech. The couple had a love affair for a few year and lived a high society life with many international jetset friends as Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin. Simone Berriau died 1984 in armor at her beloved Theatre Antoine in Paris.She was the owner of the famous Parisian Antoine theatre, which is still in function today.
